Day 7: Sustaining Long-Term Joy<\/h2>\n

Today’s Veil to Pierce<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As we conclude Week 16, we now look at sustaining long-term joy \u2014 the deceptive veil that turns joy into a fleeting visitor rather than a steady companion. The false self whispers that joy is like weather \u2014 it comes and goes, and you must chase it or wait for it to return. This veil creates the illusion that the eternal life unveiled at Passover is beautiful but ultimately unsustainable in the long haul of ordinary life. In our reflections, this distortion echoes the older brother\u2019s refusal to join the ongoing celebration (Luke 15:28), standing outside the music because his joy was tied to conditions rather than the father\u2019s already-prepared abundance.<\/p>\n

Grace does not chase long-term joy.
\nIt reveals the joy that was never lost.<\/p>\n

Grace’s Revelatory Power<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Grace sustains long-term joy by showing it as the natural atmosphere of the soul that remembers its true nature. It does not require you to maintain an emotional high. It simply keeps removing the veils that block what has always been there \u2014 the same Life that rose on Easter morning is still rising in the quiet, ordinary days. This power is steady and resilient: grace exposes the deceptive veil of \u201cjoy comes and goes,\u201d dissolving the illusion that long-term joy depends on favorable conditions. Through this, grace cultivates endurance: the false self\u2019s conditional expectations fade, allowing the soul to rest in the joy that persists even when happiness fluctuates.<\/p>\n

Contemplative Depth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Take one area where joy has felt unsustainable.
\nNot to force it back. Just to look at it.<\/p>\n

Feel the veil tighten \u2014 the subtle story that says \u201cthis cannot last,\u201d the quiet assumption that joy is temporary. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.<\/p>\n

You do not need to manufacture long-term joy.
\nYou only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone is still alive in you \u2014 right now, in this ordinary place of fluctuating feelings.<\/p>\n

Long-term joy is not a test.
\nIt is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.<\/p>\n

Applying the Insight<\/strong><\/h3>\n

When joy feels unsustainable and the old story begins (\u201cthis cannot last\u201d), pause.
\nAsk yourself one quiet question:
\n\u201cAm I measuring joy from fear, or resting in the Life already given?\u201d<\/p>\n

Then breathe.
\nThe answer usually changes everything.<\/p>\n

Choose one area where joy has felt unsustainable. Sit with it for five minutes without trying to force it. Notice where the veil tightens.
