The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M4:Week 2: Maya Hindering Inner Growth
Day 1: The Process of Inner Awakening
Today’s Veil to Pierce
As we begin Week 14, carrying forward the daily applications of personal futures from last week, we now turn to the process of inner awakening. The deceptive veil of Maya reappears here, suggesting that awakening is a linear journey of self-improvement — something you must achieve through effort, discipline, or spiritual technique. The false self loves this story. It turns growth into another arena for performance, creating the illusion that you are still “becoming” what you already are. In our shared contemplations, this veil echoes the older brother’s resentment in Luke 15 — the belief that the feast must be earned rather than simply entered. Grace pierces this veil by showing inner awakening as the gentle undoing of illusion, not the building of a better self.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace does not improve you.
It reveals you.
The process of inner awakening is not a ladder you climb but a veil you stop believing in. Grace does not demand progress reports. It simply keeps shining on what has always been true: you are not a project to be fixed. You are the expression of the same Life that rose on Easter morning. This power is patient and precise: it exposes the deceptive veil of “not there yet,” dissolving the illusion that you are separate from the glory already within you. Through this, grace fosters remembrance: the false self’s striving fades, allowing the soul to rest in the quiet truth that awakening is less about becoming and more about stopping the belief that you were ever anything else.
Contemplative Depth
Sit with one area where you still feel “not there yet.”
Not to fix it. Just to look at it.
Feel the veil tighten — the subtle pressure to perform, the quiet assumption that you are still lacking, the mental checklist of what you must do to arrive. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need to manufacture growth.
You only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone is already moving in you — right now, in this ordinary moment of “not enough.”
The process is not a test.
It is an invitation to remember what you already are.
Applying the Insight
When the old pressure of “I should be further along” arises, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I striving from fear, or resting in the Life already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one area where you feel “not there yet.” Sit with it for five minutes without trying to improve it. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the eternal life revealed at Passover is already moving in this too? Write what arises.
