The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M5:Week 4: Grace Opening New Horizons
Day 5: Grace in Taking the Next Step
Today’s Veil to Pierce
You have been taught that you must feel ready before you take the next step.
That teaching is the veil of illusion we have called Maya at its most paralyzing.
The false self turns every forward movement into a performance review — do you have enough clarity, enough courage, enough confirmation? It whispers that one wrong step will ruin everything. This veil creates the illusion that grace only supports the already-prepared. In our shared contemplations, this distortion echoes Peter wanting to walk on water yet sinking the moment he looked at the waves.
Grace does not wait for you to feel ready.
It steps with you the moment you move.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace empowers the next step by revealing that the eternal pattern of Passover is lived one obedient movement at a time. The Israelites did not cross the Red Sea with a five-year plan — they walked when the waters parted. Grace does not remove all uncertainty. It simply assures you that the same Life that rolled away the stone is already under your feet. This power is activating and kind: grace exposes the deceptive veil of “I need more preparation,” dissolving the illusion that readiness is a prerequisite for movement. Through this, grace restores momentum: the false self’s hesitation fades, allowing you to take the next step as one already held.
Contemplative Depth
Take one next step that has been stirring in you.
Not to perfect it. Just to look at it.
Feel the veil tighten — the demand for certainty, the fear of looking foolish, the assumption that you are not enough yet. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need to have it all figured out.
You only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone is already supporting this step — right now, as you consider it.
The next step is not a test of worthiness.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.
Applying the Insight
When the next step feels daunting and the old demand for readiness rises, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I waiting for fear to release me, or resting in the Life already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one next step that has been stirring. Sit with it for five minutes without demanding full certainty. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the eternal pattern of Passover is already supporting this step? Write what arises.
