The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M6:Week 3: Grace Walking in Freedom
Day 5: Grace Releasing Comparison
Today’s Veil to Pierce
You have been taught to measure your freedom against others.
That teaching is the veil of illusion at its most divisive.
The false self turns every life into a scoreboard — who is farther along, who has more peace, who seems more free. It whispers that your freedom is incomplete until you match or surpass them. This veil creates the illusion that freedom is a competition. In our shared contemplations, this distortion echoes the disciples arguing about who would be the greatest even after the resurrection.
Grace does not compare your freedom to anyone else’s.
It declares you fully free as you are.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace releases comparison by revealing that the eternal pattern of Passover sets each person free in their own time and way. The same Life that rolled away the stone flows uniquely through every life. This power is liberating and equalizing: grace exposes the deceptive veil of “I must measure up,” dissolving the illusion that freedom is relative. Through this, grace restores contentment: the false self’s endless measuring fades, allowing you to rejoice in the freedom already given to both you and others.
Contemplative Depth
Take one area where you still compare your freedom or progress to someone else.
Not to stop the thought. Just to look at it.
Feel the veil tighten — the subtle ranking, the quiet envy, the assumption that someone else’s freedom diminishes yours. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need to match anyone else’s pace.
You only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone has declared you fully free — right now, exactly as you are.
Comparison is not wisdom.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.
Applying the Insight
When comparison arises and the old scoreboard appears, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I measuring myself from fear, or resting in the Life already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one area of comparison. Sit with it for five minutes without trying to win or lose. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the eternal pattern of Passover has already declared me fully free? Write what arises.
