The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M7:Week 1: Grace Rooted in Belonging
Day 2: Grace and the Freedom Already Won
Today’s Veil to Pierce
You have been taught that freedom must be fought for and maintained through effort.
That teaching is the veil of illusion at its most tiring.
The false self treats freedom like a prize that can be lost if you are not vigilant enough. It whispers that you must keep working to stay free. This veil creates the illusion that the victory is fragile. In our reflections, this distortion echoes the Israelites wanting to return to Egypt even after crossing the sea — still living as though the deliverance had not already happened.
Grace does not call you to fight for freedom.
It calls you to live in the freedom already won.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace anchors you in freedom already won through the Passover revelation of already-given freedom. The Lamb was slain, the blood was applied, the angel of death passed over — the deliverance was complete before the people took their first step. The same Life that rolled away the stone now declares your freedom finished. This power is decisive and restful: grace exposes the deceptive veil of “I must maintain my freedom,” dissolving the illusion that the victory depends on your effort. Through this, grace restores confidence: the false self’s exhausting vigilance fades, allowing you to walk as one for whom freedom has already been secured.
Contemplative Depth
Take one area where you still feel you must fight to stay free.
Not to strive harder. Just to look at it.
Feel the veil tighten — the constant vigilance, the quiet fear of slipping back, the assumption that freedom is fragile. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need to secure what has already been won.
You only need to notice that the Passover revelation of already-given freedom has already secured you — right now, in this ordinary place.
Freedom already won is not fragile.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.
Applying the Insight
When the old pressure to fight for freedom returns, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I striving to maintain freedom from fear, or resting in the Life already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one area where you still feel you must work to stay free. Sit with it for five minutes without striving. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the Passover revelation of already-given freedom has already secured me here? Write what arises.
