The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M9:Week 3: Grace in the Sent Life of the Body
Day 5: Grace in Unnoticed Faithfulness
Today’s Veil to Pierce
You have been taught that sentness is confirmed by recognition, impact, or visible fruit.
That teaching is the veil of illusion at its most restless.
The false self needs the sent life to be noticed — by the body, by the world, or at least by measurable change. It whispers that unnoticed presence is lesser presence. This veil creates the illusion that the steadfast love that holds the body only counts what can be seen. In our shared contemplations, this distortion echoes hidden years, quiet tables, and long faithfulness that never made a report.
Grace does not require the sent life to be noticed.
It sustains unnoticed faithfulness as the deep current of the love that has already sent the body.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace in unnoticed faithfulness reveals that the eternal root of Charis — the steadfast, covenantal love of God — does not advertise itself in order to be real. This love remains when no one is watching and no outcome is obvious. Charis is this same love now visible in the small consistencies of the body: showing up, staying kind, keeping a promise, remaining near. This power is quiet and durable: grace exposes the deceptive veil of “unnoticed means unimportant,” dissolving the illusion that sentness must produce recognition. Through this, grace restores hidden fidelity: the false self’s hunger for visibility fades, allowing the body to live sent without needing applause.
Contemplative Depth
Take one act of faithfulness that has remained largely unseen.
Not to publicize it. Just to look at it.
Feel the veil tighten — the quiet desire to be noticed, the subtle ranking of visible impact, the assumption that hidden work is lesser work. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need recognition to confirm that the sending is real.
You only need to notice that the steadfast love anchored before time is already at work in what no one sees, and Charis is sustaining that faithfulness — right now, in this ordinary hidden place.
Unnoticed faithfulness is not lesser sending.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.
Applying the Insight
When the hunger for recognition arises and the old restlessness begins, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I needing to be seen from fear, or resting in the love already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one unnoticed act of faithfulness. Sit with it for five minutes without needing it to be seen. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if unnoticed faithfulness is already the sent life as Charis? Write what arises.
