The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M2-Week 3: Maya Blocking Inner Guidance
Day 4: Transformation Beyond Apparent Self
Today’s Veil to Pierce
Continuing from conviction breaking comforts, we now explore transformation beyond the apparent self—the deceptive veil where the false self presents a limited, fixed identity that blocks the Spirit’s deeper guidance. This veil clings to “who I think I am,” creating illusions that transformation requires incremental improvement rather than radical unveiling. Such deceptions maintain separation from the infinite source, portraying change as effortful rather than grace-driven. In our reflections, this transcendence aligns with Galatians 2:20’s “no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me,” where grace pierces the apparent self to reveal the true essence already present.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace transforms by unveiling beyond the apparent self, revealing the deceptive veil as a constructed shell that the Spirit’s flow outgrows. It doesn’t patch the false self but transcends it, as in 2 Corinthians 5:17’s “new creation,” where grace establishes identity in unity. This power is metamorphic and liberating: grace exposes illusions of fixedness or inadequacy, allowing the Spirit to reshape from within. Through this, grace fosters emergence: the false self’s rigid forms dissolve, giving way to a fluid, guided being aligned with the divine source.
Contemplative Depth
To experience this, meditate on the apparent self: focus on a limiting identity—perhaps “I’m always this way”—and observe the deceptive veil’s reinforcement. Invite grace to transform beyond: in deep stillness, feel the shell crack, the old self recede, and a new essence emerge. As depth builds, sense the transcendence—the mind’s definitions loosen, the heart expands, and a profound newness unfolds. This practice uncovers layers: entrenched patterns release, emotions of resistance evolve into freedom, and the soul lives in Spirit-led reality. Grace facilitates this with renewing power, turning contemplation into a rebirth, where deceptive veils of the apparent self yield to transformation’s truth of non-dual oneness, vibrant and ever-new.
Applying the Insight
Allow transformation daily: in self-perceptions, invite grace beyond the apparent, embracing Spirit-guided change.
