The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M2-Week 4: Grace in Collective Awakening
Day 4: Transformation Beyond Collective Apparent Self
Today’s Veil to Pierce
Continuing from conviction breaking collective comforts, we now explore transformation beyond the collective apparent self—the deceptive veil where groups, cultures, or societies present a limited, fixed identity that blocks deeper shared awakening. This veil clings to “who we are as a people,” creating illusions that transformation requires collective effort or incremental reform rather than radical unveiling of the divine essence already present. Such deceptions maintain separation at a group level, portraying change as threatening rather than liberating. In our reflections, this transcendence aligns with the early church’s shift from old identities to new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), where grace pierced the apparent self of tradition and law to reveal shared essence.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace transforms the collective apparent self by unveiling beyond its constructed identity, revealing the deceptive veil as a shared shell that the Spirit’s flow outgrows. It doesn’t reform the old but transcends it, as in Galatians 3:28’s “neither Jew nor Gentile… all one in Christ Jesus,” where grace establishes collective identity in unity. This power is metamorphic and inclusive: grace exposes illusions of fixed roles or inherited limitations, allowing the Spirit to reshape from within the group. Through this, grace fosters emergence: the collective false self’s rigid forms dissolve, giving way to a fluid, guided being aligned with the divine source across all members.
Contemplative Depth
To experience this, meditate on a collective apparent self—perhaps a cultural or community identity—and observe the deceptive veil’s reinforcement. Invite grace to transform beyond: in deep stillness, feel the shell crack, the old collective self recede, and a new shared essence emerge. As depth builds, sense the transcendence—the group’s definitions loosen, hearts expand, and a profound newness unfolds collectively. This practice uncovers layers: entrenched patterns release, emotions of resistance evolve into freedom, and the collective soul lives in Spirit-led reality. Grace facilitates this with renewing power, turning contemplation into a communal rebirth, where deceptive veils of the apparent self yield to transformation’s truth of non-dual oneness, vibrant and ever-new across the group.
Applying the Insight
Allow collective transformation daily: in group dynamics or societal awareness, invite grace beyond the apparent, embracing shared change.
