The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M5:Week 1: Grace Empowering Holiness
Day 5: Grace-Fueled Spiritual Practices
Today’s Veil to Pierce
You have been taught that spiritual practices are the price you pay for closeness to God.
That teaching is Maya at its most devotional.
The false self turns prayer, meditation, scripture reading, and fasting into another performance arena. It whispers that the more consistent you are, the more spiritual you become. This veil creates the illusion that these practices are a ladder you must climb to reach the Life revealed at Passover. In our reflections, this distortion echoes the Pharisees’ meticulous tithing and public prayer — impressive effort that still left them outside the feast.
Grace does not need your practices to be complete.
It only invites your practices to stop resisting what is already complete.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace fuels spiritual practices as the natural overflow of the Life already in you. It does not demand perfect consistency or heroic discipline. It simply offers a simple, consistent “yes” to what grace is already doing. This power is organic and sustainable: grace exposes the deceptive veil of self-powered spirituality, dissolving the illusion that you must earn what has already been given. Through this, grace fosters rest: the false self’s grinding distortions fade, allowing spiritual practices to become the natural rhythm of a soul that remembers its oneness with the source.
Contemplative Depth
Take one spiritual practice you have been trying to maintain.
Not to push harder. Just to look at it.
Feel the veil tighten — the subtle pressure to perform, the quiet assumption that nothing will stick unless you force it. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need to manufacture spiritual depth.
You only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone is already moving in you — right now, in this ordinary place of trying.
The practice is not a test.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.
Applying the Insight
When the old pressure to “do your spiritual practices better” arises, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I striving from fear, or resting in the Life already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one spiritual practice. Sit with it for five minutes without trying to force it. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the eternal life revealed at Passover is already fueling this? Write what arises.
