Grace During Disagreements

The veil has many hooks to deal with.

Day 3: Grace During Disagreements

Today’s Veil to Pierce

You have been taught that disagreement means someone must be right and someone must be wrong.
That teaching is the veil of illusion we have called Maya at its most relational.
The false self turns every conflict into a battlefield where your worth is on the line. It whispers that if you do not defend your position, you will disappear. This veil creates the illusion that unity can only exist when everyone agrees. In our shared contemplations, this distortion echoes the older brother’s outrage when the prodigal returned (Luke 15:28) — the belief that love must be fair before it can be celebrated.

Grace does not pick sides in disagreements.
It dissolves the need for sides.

Grace’s Revelatory Power

Grace meets disagreements by revealing the veil of illusion we have called Maya as the belief in “us versus them.” It does not force agreement. It simply reminds you that the same Life that rose on Easter morning is alive in both of you. This power is humble and steady: grace exposes the illusion that relationship requires victory, dissolving the need to be right so that connection can be restored. Through this, grace restores relationship: the false self’s defensive distortions fade, allowing disagreements to become another place where the eternal pattern of Passover — the movement from illusion to Life — can be lived.

Contemplative Depth

Take one current disagreement in a relationship.
Not to win it. Just to look at it.
Feel the veil tighten — the subtle need to be right, the quiet fear that losing the argument means losing value. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.

You do not need to defend your position to be loved.
You only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone is already present in both of you — right now, in this ordinary disagreement.

Disagreement is not a test.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.

Applying the Insight

When a disagreement arises and the old need to be right begins, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I defending from fear, or resting in the Life already given?”

Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.

Daily Reflection Prompt

Choose one current disagreement. Sit with it for five minutes without trying to win it. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the eternal pattern of Passover is already present in both of us here? Write what arises.
