The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M6:Week 1: Grace Embodying the New Life
Day 6: Grace in Play and Delight
Today’s Veil to Pierce
You have been taught that play is childish and delight is optional once you are serious about faith.
That teaching is the veil of illusion we have called Maya at its most joyless.
The false self turns adulthood into constant responsibility — no time for laughter, wonder, or pure delight. It whispers that seriousness proves maturity. This veil creates the illusion that the new life is heavy rather than light. In our reflections, this distortion echoes the older brother refusing to join the party while the father celebrated with music and dancing.
Grace does not call you to a joyless existence.
It invites you into delight.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace restores play and delight by revealing that the eternal pattern of Passover includes celebration. The resurrection was announced with joy. The father threw a feast with music and dancing. This power is light and healing: grace exposes the deceptive veil of “there is no time for play,” dissolving the illusion that maturity means heaviness. Through this, grace restores childlike wonder: the false self’s burden of constant seriousness fades, allowing delight to become a natural expression of the Life already risen in you.
Contemplative Depth
Take one simple thing that brings you delight — a song, a walk, laughter with a friend, a favorite food.
Not to justify it. Just to enjoy it.
Feel the veil tighten — the guilt that you should be doing something more productive, the assumption that delight is frivolous. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need to earn your delight.
You only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone delights in you — right now, in this ordinary pleasure.
Play and delight are not distractions.
They are an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.
Applying the Insight
When joy arises and the old voice says you should be more serious, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I resisting delight from fear, or resting in the Life already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one source of simple delight. Sit with it for five minutes without guilt. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the eternal pattern of Passover is inviting me to delight in this too? Write what arises.
