The veil has many hooks to deal with.
M6:Week 4: Grace Living in Abundance
Day 2: Grace in Overflowing Joy
Today’s Veil to Pierce
You have been taught that joy is temporary and must be earned through circumstances.
That teaching is the veil of illusion at its most joyless.
The false self treats joy as a limited resource — something that comes only when everything lines up perfectly. It whispers that sustained joy is unrealistic or even irresponsible. This veil creates the illusion that the new life must be endured more than enjoyed. In our reflections, this distortion echoes the older brother standing outside the feast while music and dancing filled the house.
Grace does not ration joy.
It invites you to live inside its overflow.
Grace’s Revelatory Power
Grace awakens overflowing joy by revealing that the eternal pattern of Passover culminates in celebration. The father threw a party with music and dancing. The resurrection was announced with “Do not be afraid… He is risen!” This power is vibrant and contagious: grace exposes the deceptive veil of “joy is only for later,” dissolving the illusion that abundance must be postponed. Through this, grace restores delight: the false self’s cautious restraint fades, allowing joy to flow freely as the natural expression of the Life already risen in you.
Contemplative Depth
Take one small thing that stirs even a hint of joy in you right now.
Not to chase more of it. Just to receive it.
Feel the veil tighten — the subtle guilt that you should be more serious, the thought that joy is fleeting. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.
You do not need to earn this joy.
You only need to notice that the same Life that rolled away the stone delights in you — right now, in this ordinary moment.
Overflowing joy is not frivolous.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.
Applying the Insight
When joy appears and the old restraint or guilt rises, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I resisting delight from fear, or resting in the Life already given?”
Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.
Daily Reflection Prompt
Choose one source of simple joy today. Sit with it for five minutes without analyzing or chasing it. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the eternal pattern of Passover is inviting me to live in this joy? Write what arises.
