Grace Sending the Body

The veil has many hooks to deal with.

M9:Week 3: Grace in the Sent Life of the Body

Day 1: Grace Sending the Body

Today’s Veil to Pierce

You have been taught that being sent is a special calling for a few.
That teaching is the veil of illusion at its most restricting.

The false self reserves “sentness” for missionaries, pastors, or those with a dramatic story. It whispers that ordinary members of the body are meant to stay, receive, and support those who go. This veil creates the illusion that the steadfast love that holds the body is primarily inward. In our shared contemplations, this distortion echoes the early church discovering that the Spirit was already sending ordinary believers across streets, tables, and cultures.

Grace does not limit sentness to a few.
It sends the whole body as the natural overflow of the love that has already claimed it.

Grace’s Revelatory Power

Grace sending the body reveals that the eternal root of Charis — the steadfast, covenantal love of God — is always moving toward those not yet included. This love does not stay comfortable inside known boundaries. Charis is this same sending love now visible when the body carries its shared life into ordinary places — workplaces, neighborhoods, friendships, and unexpected conversations. This power is expansive and quiet: grace exposes the deceptive veil of “being sent is for specialists,” dissolving the illusion that most members are meant only to remain. Through this, grace restores true movement: the false self’s settled inwardness fades, allowing the body to live as one already sent.

Contemplative Depth

Take one ordinary place where you already live — work, neighborhood, family, or daily path.
Not to invent a mission. Just to look at it as a place of sending.

Feel the veil tighten — the quiet assumption that this place is too ordinary, the subtle sense that someone else is the sent one, the preference for staying inside the familiar circle. Then let grace do what it does best: nothing dramatic. Just a gentle turn of attention.

You do not need a special assignment to be sent.
You only need to notice that the steadfast love anchored before time is already sending the body, and Charis is making that sending visible — right now, in this ordinary place of life.

Sentness is not reserved.
It is an invitation to stop resisting what is already true.

Applying the Insight

When the old division between “those who go” and “those who stay” arises, pause.
Ask yourself one quiet question:
“Am I treating sentness as specialized from fear, or resting in the love already given?”

Then breathe.
The answer usually changes everything.

Daily Reflection Prompt

Choose one ordinary place in your daily life. Sit with it for five minutes without inventing a program. Notice where the veil tightens. Then ask: What if the steadfast love is already sending the body here as Charis? Write what arises.
